  All About StudySmart Youth Services

The Story Behind Our Student Organization

StudySmart Youth Services is a student-run nonprofit organization aimed to help K-8 students improve their academic achievements. The tutors of our program are dedicated volunteers of high school, college students, and professionals, who are passionate about knowledge and are eager to share our interests with young learners.

The program evolved from Math at the Library, founded in 2017. Through weekly free math tutoring sessions at various local libraries, Math at the Library helps students with math homework or provide math enrichment materials for advanced learners. Now the organization has grown to encompass Girls Empowering Girls, Math Magicians, and Art for Change, and Boolean Bears, four other community service programs to provide English language tutoring, Math Olympiad training, art enrichment and computer coding to our community.

We now offer online classes multiple times a week. We have more than 200 volunteers and provide free lessons to students with all background and social status.  We have been featured in the Los Angeles Times and interviewed by NPR.  We also received Special Congressional Recognition from Rep. Katie Porter's office for our outstanding community contribution.

Simply put, we love getting together to do what we love, and making meaningful impact to our community.
